Stephen Poole

Stephen is a Chartered Tax adviser with many years experience. His main areas of expertise are in capital and income taxes applied to land and property and charity tax

He qualified in 1990 while with Grant Thornton, and subsequently, spent a decade in central technical offices of large firms, Mazars and PwC, where he spent a lot of time touring the offices and providing support services and training in various areas.  He moved up to Newcastle in 2006 purely because Northumbria is a wonderful part of the country. Until January 2020 He was a tax director in Baldwins (now Azets), and part of the agricultural team. He headed up probate work in the north-east and handled several agricultural estates.

Stephen other main passion is wildlife and has spent a lot of time thinking about how taxes impact on activities involving the natural world such as farming landed estates and wildlife charities. He is passionate about rewilding and advising firms on the tax implications and how to restructure and agricultural business to introduce rewilding processes.

Stephen is also a proprietor of Growing Games Ltd, which is in the process of developing a couple of games. He is applying game methodologies to business growth in interesting ways, and has an upcoming software product aimed at tax structuring – the Business Pen.
